Abstract
This research work investigated the impact of labour turnover on the performance of a brewery plant in Nigeria. Labour turnover is a costly problem and an economic drain to every organization as it costs the company huge sums of money in recruiting and training replacements. Additional costs are incurred through new employees that make more mistakes and errors than experienced workers. This causes more breakdowns, reduced production, work disruption, and increase in overtime as a result of departed workers.
A cross-sectional survey was utilized for data collection. The data collected from the administered questionnaires were analyzed using percentages. The findings showed that the effects of labour turnover were reduced production, increased scrap and overtime, and additional labour costs. Reduced production was found to have the foremost effect on labour turnover.
The study concluded that labour turnover leads to reduced productivity and profit. The variables that were hypothetically tested as the causes of turnover had significant effects on manufacturing company performance in Nigeria.
