Abstract
Cadmium (Cd) is a heavy metal with significant environmental and health implications, commonly found in industrial processes, mining , and battery production.Cadmium is a heavy system. It is listed as one of the most toxic chemical on the planet. The broad aim of this study is focused in investigating the Therapeutic effect of graded doses of Crude Mucuna Pruriens leaf on the cadmium induced damage on the Brain of male Wistar rat. Mucuna Pruriens leaf was plucked from an open farm in Ekpoma Edo state,Nigeria. All other chemicals were of analytical grade. The pelletized rat chow was obtained from a poultry store in Ekpoma,Nigeria. The drinking water user was clean tap water . Forty male Wistar rats, weighing between 130g to 190g were obtained from the Laboratory Animal Center of the College of Medicine , Ambrose Alli University,Ekpoma. The rats were transported and kept in their own cages in the animal house of the Physiology department and maintained in a room with 12 hour light/dark cycle, and were fed pelletized rat chow and water ad libitum for the period of 14days acclimatization. After 14 days of acclimatization , the rats were randomly allocated to four experimental groups ,( n=5 per group ). At the end of acclimatization , animals in each group received their corresponding treatments. Except for the control that received clean tap water as drinking water ,groups A,B,C,D,F,G,and H were given their respective doses of crude Mucuna Pruriens leaf for 21 days . Body weight was obtained and recorded from each animal in each group before the experiment, and at the end of the experiment. This was determined by placing a container on the weighing scale and then the rat inside the container. Each group consisted of 5 rats. One way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed and LSD post hoc test was used for multiple comparisons . Statistical analysis were performed using the SPSS version 25.0 program . The results are expressed as mean standard deviation and p
