Effect of Forensic Accounting and Fraud Management on Profitability of Quoted and Selected Money Deposit Bank in Nigeria

Abstract

The rate of financial fraud has brought into question the services of a traditional auditor in the fight against fraud. Due to the increase in the rate of financial fraud, the need to detect fraud became a necessity in companies. Forensic accounting tools are very important in mitigating the rate of fraudulent cases in Nigeria banks. This study aims to examine the effect of forensic accounting and fraud management on the profitability of quoted selected money deposit bank in Nigeria. Data where gathered from Sterling Bank and United Bank of Africa (UBA) PLC 's annual report for five years (2010-2015) the research work made use of multiple regression method. The result of the analysis shows that forensic audit has significant effect on the net profit margin of selected Nigeria Bank. It was also observed that forensic audit influences profit after tax of the Nigeria banks. The study also review that forensic audit has significant effect on retained earnings and dividend partial of Nigeria banks. Hence, based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that the management of the commercial bank should emphasize and enhance use of forensic financial information as it will help increased their profitability.
