Evaluating the Integration of Emerging Technologies in Enhancing Virtual Library Services in Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Library

ABSTRACT
This study evaluate the integration of emerging technologies in enhancing virtual library services in Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Library. Survey research design was used in the study where questionnaire was considered as an instrument for data collections, the study discovered that the library uses big data and institutional repository as an emerging technology, the emerging technology helps for service delivery in their library, the emerging technology help for service delivery in library very effective, the use of emerging technology provide opportunity of better use of library, the Emerging technologies boost libraries' capability to provide better and faster services, the Emerging technology has an impact on librarians' and the library's creativity, problem-solving skills, and self-image, the emerging technology helps to process innovations and bring value to existing products and services, the emerging Technology strengthened library knowledge and opportunities for the future, the challenges limiting the Use of Emerging Technologies in virtual Libraries is lack of ICT infrastructure and the possible solution to use the Emerging Technologies in virtual Libraries is provision of good ICT infrastructure. Based on the findings above the project is therefore recommended the following: other means of emerging technology should be used in the library of Umaru Musa than only big data and institutional repository, the management of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University library should provide adequate provision of ICT infrastructure and the library management should provide the adequate use of emerging technology in the institution.
