Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study investigated the transportation in tourism studies: a case study of Akure, Ondo State. The specific objectives examined the relationship between transportation and tourism development in Akure, Ondo State, the effect of transportation on the rate of patronage in most tourist centers in Akure, Ondo State, the factors affecting the ease of transportation and the growth of tourism in Akure, Ondo State and the effect bad road on transportation in Akure, Ondo State. Questionnaire was used to generate data from the selected respondents in the study area. One hundred (100) copies of structured questionnaire were produced and administered to selected respondents. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS). The study showed that environmental issues continue to dominate consciousness as it is now clear that the physical, chemical as well as the biological integrity of our planet is being compromised daily. The findings of this study showed that transportation has been an integral part of the tourism industry; transportation links tourists with various tourist attractions. There is a general agreement that tourism expands more when there are better transportation systems. The study recommended that governments should allocate financial support for the development of transportation and there should be safety and security to make sure that the transportation mode is safe and secure.
