Intrinsic Motivational Factors Associated With Secretaries' Work Attitude in Tertiary Institutions (case Study of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State)

Abstract
This study focused on "intrinsic motivation factors associated with secretaries' work attitude in
tertiary institutions". Case study of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State. Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The population for the study comprised sixty (60) secretaries from the case study. No sample was made because of the manageable size of the population. Three (3) research questions guided the study: (1) What intrinsic motivation are available to secretaries in tertiary institutions? (2) What is the influence of autonomy on secretaries' work attitude in tertiary institutions? (3) What is the influence of recognition on secretaries' work attitude in tertiary institutions? Questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection from the respondents. Data collected was analyzed using simple mean method. Based on the findings, the study concluded that intrinsic motivations influence the performance of secretaries positively in the higher institutions. It was recommended that rewards or incentives should be implemented in the tertiary institutions without prejudice.
