Abstract
This study examined Audience perception of media coverage of Amotekun activities in Southwest, Nigeria, using residents of Osogbo Local Government as a study area . The study was guided by four objectives specifically to assess how the audience perceived media reportage of Amotekun activities. It employed survey research method while Taro Yamane is used to determine the sample size. Questionnaire was used as research instrument. The study found that majority of the respondents perceived media report on Amotekun activities in South west, Nigeria as inadequate although balanced and fair. Government establishment of an outfit to secure lives and properties should not be given more priority by the media. However, they believed media reportage of Amotekun activities in the South west, influenced the outfit to be more professional. It recommended that the media should carry more news about the security outfit. This will go a long way in informing the audience more. Also, Amotekun personnel should also be regularly motivated for putting in their best and any officer found wanting should be prosecuted.
