Design and Construction of a Smart Home Iot Based Intruder Alerm System

The increasing prevalence of home intrusions has driven the development of smart home IoT-based intruder alarm systems. This project aims to design and construct an advanced system that leverages IoT technology for reliable intrusion detection and alerts. The proposed system integrates a PIR sensor for motion detection, an ESP8266 microcontroller for data processing and communication, a power supply unit with lithium batteries and a boost converter, an LCD display and buzzer for visual and audible alerts, and utilizes the Blynk IoT platform for remote monitoring and control via a smartphone app. The design process involved careful hardware selection and integration, and software development for seamless communication between components. The system was constructed on a Vero board, ensuring secure mounting and proper connections. Testing demonstrated the system's effectiveness in detecting intrusions and triggering appropriate alerts, with the PIR sensor accurately detecting motion, the ESP8266 processing data and communicating with the Blynk platform, and the LCD display and buzzer providing immediate alerts. The smart home IoT-based intruder alarm system offers advantages such as real-time monitoring, remote control, and integration with other smart home devices. However, it faces challenges related to internet connectivity and data security vulnerabilities. Future work can focus on improving scalability, incorporating AI algorithms, and addressing privacy and security concerns to ensure the system's robustness and user confidence. In conclusion, this project successfully designed and constructed an effective IoT-based intruder alarm system that demonstrates the potential for enhancing home security.
