Effects of Teamwork on Organisational Survival in Nigeria With Reference to the Bank Branches in Ekiti

Abstract
The study examined the effects of teamwork on organizational survival in Nigeria with reference to the bank branches in Ekiti State. Specifically, it examined the relationship between team leader and organizational survival; examine the relationship between mutual performance monitoring and organizational survival; evaluate the effect of team adaptability on organizational survival and investigate the effect of team orientation on organizational survival.
The population for the study comprised of two bank branches of First Bank and Zenith bank branches in Ado Ekiti namely: Zenith bank branches (bank road, EKSU branch) and First bank (Adebayo, Okesa, Bank Road and EKSU Cash point) making 214 employees. The sample size of the study was 139 respondents using stratified sampling techniques. Multiple regression analyses were used to achieve the stated objectives.
The result shows that team leader(β =0.617, t= 9.506, p= 0.000< 0.05)have significant effect on organisational survival, mutual performance monitoring(β =0.092, t= 1.288, p= 2.000 > 0.05)have a greater significant effect on organisational survival and team adaptability (β = 0.414, t = 8.145, p =0.000 < 0.05) have significant effect on employee performance and team orientation(β = 0.414, t = 8.145, p =0.000 < 0.05).
The study concluded that team adaptability has a positive relationship with organisational survival and team member clearly understand their roles and also appreciate one another’s unique capability. Mutual performance monitoring has a positive relationship with organisational survival, when conflict occur they are not easily resolved and suggestions and contributions of members were not respected.
