Abstract
This study examines how forensic accounting influences corporate governance in Telesuprecon Nigeria Ltd. The research aimed to: (1) determine the relationship between forensic accounting and corporate governance, (2) assess the impact of forensic accounting on governance effectiveness, and (3) identify challenges faced in applying forensic accounting practices. The study focused on 96 employees across different staff levels in the company. Data was collected using structured questionnaires measured on a Likert scale, and the responses were analyzed using SPSS (version 2.1), including descriptive and regression analysis.
The findings revealed that forensic accounting significantly enhances corporate governance by improving financial transparency, reducing fraud risks, and strengthening internal control systems. However, the study also found that while forensic accounting improves financial reporting and accountability, it has not been fully integrated into the company’s broader governance framework. Its use tends to focus more on solving immediate financial irregularities rather than long-term governance improvement.
The study recommends that Telesuprecon Nigeria Ltd. should invest in regular training for staff and management on forensic accounting practices and commit adequate resources to support forensic audit procedures. This will enable the organization to maximize the strategic benefits of forensic accounting in promoting stronger and more effective corporate governance.
