Impact of Talent Management on Organisational Succession Planning (a Case Study of Pz Cussons Nigeria Plc. Lagos)

Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study evaluated the “impact of talent management on organisational succession planning”. This study was aimed to establish the effect of talent acquisition on organisational succession planning in PZ Cussons Nigeria, to determine the effect of talent development on organisational succession planning in PZ Cussons Nigeria, to investigate the effect of talent retention on organisational succession planning in PZ Cussons Nigeria. To achieve these objectives, the study adopted descriptive survey design. The population of the study comprised of staff of PZ Cussons. 75 respondents were sampled out of the population. Primary data was used for the study. Data were collected through questionnaire research instrument on a five-point Likert scale. The reliability of the instrument of the study, which was 0.72, was determined using Cronbach ranking. The validity of the instrument was measured using content validity. Data collected were analysed using simple percentage, at 5% probability level of significance with the aid of SPSS (v.22). The findings revealed that: that the talent acquisition strategies applied at PZ Cussons Nigeria did not enable the organizational succession planning, the applied talent development strategies significantly related with organisational succession planning at PZ Cussons Nigeria, the talent retention strategies applied by PZ Cussons Nigeria such as competitive pay, having an internal promotion policy, ensuring wellness and health of employees, employee recognition and regular update to compensation plan had significantly associated with the organisational succession planning. It therefore recommended that PZ Cussons Nigeria should have mechanisms to seamlessly adjust their recruitment practices to the changes in the market, PZ Cussons Nigeria should continually engage in talent tracking to ensure top talent from competitors, institutes, universities and colleges are tracked and considered for integration into the talent pipeline of the organization.
