Abstract
ABSTRACT
Thisdescriptivestudywasconductedwiththeaimofassessingtheimpactofagriculturalcooperativesocietyonthesalesofmembersoutputinmadobilocalgovernmentarea.Arandomsampleof74respondentsweregivenquestionnairesfromthreedistrictscomprisingGora,KwankwasoandNingawaareaswithregisteredmembersofthecooperativesocietytorepresentthepopulationofstudy.Datawascollectedregardingthesocio-economiccharacteristicsoftargetrespondents,somechallenges(finance,middlemen,roadinfrastructure,lowprices,lackofgoodaccesstomarketinformation).also,aonesamplet-teststatisticswasusedtoanalyzetheimpactofagriculturalmarketingcooperativesusingsomeparameterssuchas(ifthefarmers/membersearnmorebeforejoiningthecooperative?iftheirincomehasincreaseafterjoiningthecooperative?,ifthecooperativesupplyreliablemarketinformationaswellasdeterminegoodpricefortheirmembersproduce?).Theresultsshowedthatmostoftherespondentswerebetween30yearsandaboveandmostlymaleswithcollegelevelofeducation.Otherobjectivesanalysisbasedonvariablesmentionedaboveonsampledrespondentsshowsthecooperativeisbeingchallengedbythemandvaluecomputedfromtestedstatisticsseemsgreaterthantheconfidencelevelof95%whichindicatestrongevidenceontheimpactofagriculturalmarketingcooperativesocietyinthestudyarea.Thestudyalsorecommendedbasedonitsfindingsthatfarmersshouldbeempoweredintermsofgoodaccesstomarketinginformationinvolvingpriceandavailablemarketfortheirproducetohelpreducetheexploitationofmiddlemen.Also,thegovernmentshouldinterveneintermsofpricesetting,finance,goodroadinfrastructuretoencouragefarmingactivitiesandfoodavailability.
