Abstract
Access to safe drinking water is vital for human health, yet stored water in domestic tanks is often susceptible to microbial contamination. This study investigates the bacteriological quality of water tanks in selected areas of Kaduna South. Samples were collected and analyzed using standard microbiological techniques including total plate count and detection of pathogenic organisms such as Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp. Results revealed varying levels of bacterial contamination across sampled locations, indicating possible risk factors from environmental exposure, poor sanitation, and inadequate tank maintenance. The findings emphasize the need for effective water treatment and better hygiene practices to safeguard public health.
