Design and Implementation of a Digital Sysytem for Land Area and Perimeter Measurement

Abstract
The measurement of land area and other parameters is a crucial component in various sectors such as agriculture, urban planning, environmental management, and real estate. Traditionally, land measurements relied on manual methods involving tapes, chains, and rudimentary surveying instruments. The traditional methods of land area and parameter measurement are plagued by inefficiencies, inaccuracies, and inconsistencies, leading to significant challenges in land governance, management, and development.
Despite the critical importance of accurate land measurement in various industries such as real estate, urban planning, agriculture, and construction, the existing manual and semi-automated systems are time-consuming and labor-intensive, prone to human errors and biases, limited in scalability and flexibility, incompatible with modern digital platforms and technologies, and lastly, unable to provide real-time data and updates. This study develop a digital system to measure area and perimeter of a parcel land.
The methodology adopted to achieve the stated objectives is as follows. Then, the system was implemented using HyperText Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS),
Java Script (JS), and Python, The web application produced was converted to a mobile application using WedView.
The accuracy of the application was evaluated on different browsers (Chrome, Safari, Opera) by comparing their result with a standard tape rule. From the result obtained, the error range for Opera is between 2.27% to 4.35%, safari is between 1.00% to 4.48%, Chrome is 0.01% to 2.94% making Chrome performs better than others. This study has provided accurate, efficient, and accessible tool for measuring area and perimeter of land and Chrome is hereby recommended as a platform to use the system
