Evaluation of Adoption of Smartphone for Promotion of Small Scale Business Among Young Entrepreneur’s in Yola South

Abstract
This study was carried out to evaluate on adoption of smartphone for the promotion of small scale
business among young entrepreneur in Yola south using some selected small scale businesses in
Yola south as a case study. The study was specifically carried out to determine the extent
smartphone are utilized for commercial purposes among young Entrepreneur in Yola south,
ascertain the various commercial uses of smartphone among young entrepreneurs in Yola south
and evaluate the effect of the smart phone usage on the performance of SMEs in Yola south. The
survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this
study. The population size comprises of 250 employees of some selected small scale businesses in
Yola south. In determining the sample size, the researcher conveniently selected 100 respondents
and 90 were validated, Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection.
The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables and mean scores.
While the hypotheses were tested using Chi-square statistical tool. The result of the findings
reveals that the use of smartphones among young entrepreneurs in Yola south is extensive,
significantly impacting the commercial landscape. The study also revealed that smartphone usage
has a positive impact on the performance of SMEs, contributing to their growth, financial
inclusion, and adaptability in a competitive market environment. Therefore, it is recommended
that government and private sector should invest in improving mobile network infrastructure to
ensure reliable and high-speed internet access across the country. This would further empower
young entrepreneurs by providing consistent connectivity for their business operations. To
