Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study evaluates the antioxidant properties of Syzygium aromaticum (clove) and Ocimum gratissimum (scent leaf) through various assays, including Total Phenolic Content, Total Flavonoid Content, DPPH Free Radical Scavenging Ability, and Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP). The extraction process yielded 8.90% Syzygium aromaticum and 45.31% Ocimum gratissimum. The results indicated that Syzygium aromaticum exhibits significantly higher antioxidant activity compared to Ocimum gratissimum, primarily due to its higher phenolic and flavonoid content. Mixtures of the two plants showed that higher proportions of clove contribute most to the antioxidant capacity. This research suggests that combining these extracts can create effective antioxidant formulations with potential applications in health supplements, functional foods, and skincare products.
