Awareness and Knowledge of the Health Implications of Global Warming Among Residents of Ekosodin in Ovia North East Lga of Edo State

The study looked at Ekosodin inhabitants' awareness and understanding of the health effects of global warming in Ovia North East LGA, Edo State. Assessing the inhabitants of Ekosodin in Ovia North East LGA of Edo state's awareness and understanding of the health effects of global warming was the aim of this study. The study was guided by three (3) research questions.
The study was conducted using a descriptive survey methodology as its research design. The research included 8,110 people (eight thousand one hundred and ten). There were 210 people in the research, which was the sample size. A survey on knowledge and awareness of the health effects of global warming served as the study tool. Two more experts from the Department of Health, Safety and Environmental Education (HSE), Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City, as well as the researcher's supervisor, validated the instrument. Using the Cronbach Alpha Reliability Coefficient Method, the reliability coefficient for this study was determined. Frequency count and percentage were used in the data analysis process.
According to the study's findings, the participants knew about global warming. The responders knew a lot about the effects of global warming on health. The respondents' attitudes regarding global warming were positive. According to the survey, there was a high level of knowledge and awareness regarding global warming. These suggestions were offered in light of the study's findings: Those responders who are highly aware of global warming and its effects on health should continue to learn about it through a variety of activities, such as continuing education, taking part in environmental projects, and supporting laws that deal with the issue. Public awareness initiatives and media coverage should be used to educate people about global warming and the advantages of sustainable practices for both the environment and human health. These many methods can also be used by those who have a favourable or negative attitude towards global warming, as well as those who are not well-informed about it. The government need to offer incentives to people and companies who want to cut back on their carbon emissions.
