Abstract
.This research work was carried out to examine the effect of fuel subsidy on the wellbeing of students: a case study of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Ondo State. The population of the study comprised of undergraduate students of Adeyemi College of Education in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State. Three (3) objectives were drawn to guide this study. The research methodology utilizes simple random sampling to select two hundred and fifty (250) respondents with frequency counts and percentage to analyse the data acquired from the respondents. It was discovered that fuel subsidy removal has resulted to economic hardship and that all sectors of the economy are not as healthy as they used to be under the fuel subsidy.; cabals/promoters or beneficiary of the subsidy benefit more from the subsidy than the masses; removal of subsidy has increased the cost of running the school programmes; fuel subsidy has affected implementation of teaching programme in Nigeria educational institution. The study recommends that: schools' administrators should be assisted in one way or the other by various arms of governments to reduce the high cost of running schools within the country; minimum wage should be increased, this will ensure that there is support by workers and limit the resistance by the Labour Union; governments and other stakeholders should endeavour to come into the aid of schools' teachers in terms of teaching programme as this majorly affect their delivery (virtual and physical instructional facilities), training, and majorly on transportation cut across schools (primary, school, and tertiary institution); creation of a robust monitoring and evaluation framework to assess the effectiveness of implemented of the subsidy decision on education which will enable policymakers to make informed decisions, identify areas for improvement, and ensure that smooth running of schools across the
country in this post-subsidy removal era.
