Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project aims to investigate the feasibility of using soybean oil in oil paint production, evaluating its performance, durability, and artistic qualities compared to traditional linseed oil-based paints. Our research revealed that soybean oil-based paints exhibited comparable color strength, light fastness, and adhesion properties to linseed oil-based paint. Additionally, soybean oil paints showed improved flexibility and reduced yellowing over time. This study demonstrates the potential of soybean oil as a viable alternative binder in oil paint production, offering a more sustainable and healthier option for artists. The results encourage further exploration and development of soybean oil-based paints, contributing to a more environmentally conscious art industry.
