Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to identify The Role or Contribution of traditional Rulers in Maintaining peace and Harmony in Nigeria by limiting my
Survey to Igarra Local Government Area., The research design adopted here is the
survey research method and use of primary SOurce for data collection. After the
investigation, it was fownd and / or established that although the traditional
institution that maintained social order have passed various phases, - traditional,
colonial and i post-colonial periods, they remain relevant and influential in the task
maintaining peace and harmony in their traditional domains. The study
Concluded with useful suggestion on how is tackle the challenges presently faced by
traditional rulers so they would continue to render services to the local people in
particular and to Nigeria in general.
