Abstract
The design and production of rainwater harvesting and storage systems aim to provide an eco-friendly, cost-effective, and sustainable solution to address water scarcity challenges. Rainwater harvesting involves the collection, filtration, and storage of rainwater from rooftops, open surfaces, or other catchment areas for domestic uses. This study focuses on developing an efficient system tailored to specific climatic conditions and water demands. The project incorporates key components, including a well-designed catchment system, first-flush diverters, filtration units, and storage tanks. The system emphasizes the use of durable, locally sourced materials to enhance affordability and maintenance. Additionally, advanced features, such as sediment filters and overflow mechanisms, are integrated to ensure water quality and prevent contamination. The design is modeled using modern tools and tested for capacity, efficiency, and durability under various environmental conditions. Results indicate that such systems can significantly reduce dependency on conventional water supplies.
