Abstract
The poultry farming sector plays a crucial role in food security, economic growth, and employment generation, particularly in Nigeria, where poultry contributes significantly to agricultural GDP. Despite its importance, poultry farmers in Ekiti State face challenges in accessing accurate and timely market information, which is essential for optimizing production, pricing, and profitability. Limited access to reliable data leads to inefficiencies, price instability, and suboptimal decision-making, ultimately affecting the sustainability of poultry enterprises. This study aims to assess the access and utilization of market information among poultry farmers in Ekiti State. It examines the socio-economic characteristics of farmers, identifies primary sources of market information, evaluates challenges faced in accessing market intelligence, and analyzes the impact of market information on decision-making and profitability. The study highlights the importance of digital technologies, farmer associations, and informal networks in bridging the market information gap. Findings from this research are expected to provide valuable insights for policymakers, agricultural extension services, and industry stakeholders to develop strategies that enhance market access, improve information dissemination, and strengthen the competitiveness of poultry farmers. By addressing the constraints to market information access, this study contributes to improving productivity, sustainability, and economic resilience in the poultry farming sector of Ekiti State.
