Design and Implementation of Academic Staff Assessment and Promotion System for Auchi Polytechnic Academic Staff

Abstract

This software titled “Academic Staff Assessment and Management System” was a
desktop application developed to mainly assess and promote academic staff in the
Federal Polytechnic Auchi. This specialized software was implemented for direct
changeover to the existing system before the time of writing this final year project.
This software has its foundation on the concepts of Java and sqlite database
management system. We use Java programming language because any module in
the project can be made user friendly using the java GUI applications (JDK 8 and
NetBeans IDE 8.2). The usefulness of the study is that the new system has proven to
be a veritable software tool that serves as a solution to the problems of data
redundancy, inconsistencies, insecurity, inaccuracy,…, faced by the existing system
in Auchi polytechnic Auchi. The recommendation was then drawn that AUCHI
POLY Governing or Establishment Unit should use this computer based Academic
Staff Assessment and Promotion System as a panacea to the problems of ill
assessment and promotion on hand and particularly in the light shed by this study.
