Development Communication Strategy and Agricultural Development in Rivers State. (a Survey of Onne in Eleme L.g.a)

Abstract
This study explores the development communication strategies necessary for agricultural
development in Onne-Eleme, Rivers State, Nigeria. Grounded in the stakeholders,
diffusion of innovation, and Development media theories, this research identifies the key
stakeholders and their communication needs, and examines the role of development
media in diffusing agricultural innovations. The study reveals that a stakeholder-
centered approach to development communication, which takes into account the
cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic context of the local farming community, is crucial
for effective agricultural development. With the population of 850, the sample size of
265 was derived from kryce and Morgan served as yardstick for the study. The findings
highlight the importance of developing context-specific communication strategies that
leverage traditional and modern media channels to promote the adoption of improved
agricultural practices. The survey research design was employ , with four research
objectives, and questions , which gave birth to four recommendations which have
implications for policy, practice, and future research in development communication and
agricultural development
