Abstract
The bones are very useful in teaching human anatomy and for identification unknown specimen.
Depending upon the method used in bones maceration the preparation of bones for long term
curation entails plenty effort both does not involve difficult techniques or expensive materials.
This research describe the step by step process and document the preparation of bones acquire
from the university of Maiduguri, gross anatomy laboratory, department of human anatomy. The
specimens were immerse in protease and lipase for several days in other to loosen the soft tissue,
which were then removed manually, followed by bleaching in hydrogen peroxide. But before
bleaching, Xylene was used to remove residual fat (bone marrow) from the long bones. Upon
completion, these specimens were labeled and added to the collection at the University of
Maiduguri, Gross Anatomy Laboratory, Department of Human Anatomy.
