Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study examines THE IMPACT OF DIVORCE ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AMONG MARRIED WOMAN IN YUSUF MAITAMA SULE UNIVERSITY, KANO”. The findings aim to investigate the impact of divorce on the academic performance of married women at Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano. A total of seventy (70) questionnaires were administered to the respondents and data collected was analysed using simple table with percentage. The findings of the study revealed that most of the respondents (48.57) indicated that Divorce has increased stress to the divorce woman and effectively affected their academic achievements. This research work revealed that majority of the respondents (40%) revealed that the major challenges faced by Divorce woman include; feeling isolated or lacking emotional support during the divorce process, Depression, anxiety and stress related to divorce has made studying difficult.. the findings of the study also explain that the majority of the respondents (92.86%) revealed that the that the current support system available for divorce woman in the university is through peer mentoring from other students in similar situation. Lastly, this study exposed that (61.43%) indicated that the University offer flexible payment plans or emergency financial assistance for women facing financial hardship after divorce It was recommended that Educational institutions and government bodies should establish financial aid programs, including scholarships and grants, specifically tailored for divorced married women pursuing education. Psychological support plays a vital role in addressing the emotional stress that divorced women face. Educational institutions should offer flexible learning schedules, such as evening classes, online courses, and modular programs, to accommodate the unique responsibilities of divorced married women, particularly those juggling parenting and work. For divorced women who are primary caregivers, access to affordable or free childcare facilities is crucial.
