Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study examined Language use in the high court Ado Ekiti. The study critically examine the formal language and terminology used in Ekiti State high court proceedings;, to assess the impact of language clarity on legal outcomes and fairness., to examine the challenges and barriers related to language use in high courts in Ekiti State. Previous and current literature were reviewed. The study employs a Description of the Research design, combining both qualitative and quantitative approaches to achieve a nuanced understanding of language use in legal contexts. Content analysis will be used to evaluate the legal language found in court proceedings and documents. The findings reveal a nuanced understanding of legal language, highlighting how certain terms and phrases in the High Court of Ado Ekiti can present both challenges and opportunities for clear communication. It was concluded that the High Court of Ado Ekiti, used language reflects in both universal terms and specialized legal jargon, each carrying its own implications for legal proceedings. The accessibility of these terms varies, and misunderstandings can have serious consequences for participants in the court process.
