Assessing the Challenges Facing Small Scale Hospitality Business Unit in Osogbo Metropolis (a Case of Osogbo Holiday Inn)

Abstract
This study examine the challenges facing small scale hospitality business in Osun State. The purpose of this research work is to identify the challenges facing small scale hotel business in Osun State and to examine the factors responsible for slow growth of small scale hotels in the study area.The questionnaire method was used to collect data for presentation and analysis. Hypothesis were formulated and tested through questionnaires that were administered to 65 respondents randomly selected. The chi-square analysis method was used to test the hypotheses formulated at 0.05 level of significance. From the findings of the study, the researcher finds out that the establishment of hotels and recreational centers in Nigeria that small scale has ultimately helped in the socio economic development of the country, it was revealed that 65.8% of the respondents understood that there is impact of small scale business on poverty reduction while, 56.8% of the respondents opine that promotion of SMEs is the solution of socio-economic problems of Nigeria. It was concluded that. the development of small scale and it's effective promotion has not been approached seriously in the country.
Then it was recommended that small and medium enterprises should source their loans from the financial institutions where interest rates are low. Entrepreneurs should insist on revolving loan scheme from government which should be interest free.
