Abstract

This study examines the Impact of Organizational Success on Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM), using International Breweries Plc, Ilesa, Osun State, as a case study. The objectives of the research are to examine the extent to which organizational success influences the adoption and implementation of SHRM practices, to identify the specific aspects of organizational success—such as financial performance, innovation, and market share—that significantly affect strategic HR decision-making, and to analyze how the relationship between organizational success and SHRM varies across different organizational types, sizes, and industry sectors. The study is anchored on the Resource-Based View (RBV) Theory and Human Capital Theory, which emphasize the strategic importance of unique resources and the development of human capital as drivers of sustainable organizational success. A descriptive research design was adopted, with the study population consisting of 143 staff members of International Breweries Plc, Ilesa, Osun State, from which 70 were purposively selected based on characteristics relevant to the research objectives. Findings indicate that organizational success significantly influences the adoption and implementation of SHRM practices, with financial performance and innovation emerging as the most critical aspects shaping HR strategies. The study concludes that a strong alignment between organizational success indicators and HR practices enhances competitiveness, sustainability, and employee commitment. It is recommended that organizations should continuously integrate strategic HRM with business outcomes, invest in human capital development, and regularly review their HR strategies to reflect changes in market performance and innovation trends, while also benchmarking practices against industry standards to remain competitive across different organizational types and sectors.
