Evaluation of Heavy Metal Content in Selected Brands of Stamina Tea

Abstract
Some Heavy metals get accumulated in the body, exhibiting a chronic nature. These heavy metals have the ability to induce a number of adverse health effects, including carcinogenesis. Tea is an aromatic beverage commonly prepared by infusing it into hot water. The aim of this study is to evaluate the heavy metal content in selected brands of stamina tea. Tea samples were purchased from a major supermarket in Owerri city. Each sample was subjected to atomic absorption spectroscopy. Heavy metals analyzed include; Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Nickel (Ni), Arsenic (As), Selenium (Se), Mercury (Hg), Thallium (Ti), Antimony (Sb) and Lead (Pb).
