Abstract
This project investigates a hybrid propulsion system combining solar and petrol energy for a W23 passenger boat. The system integrates a 200HP petrol outboard engine with a 40HP solar-powered battery system, where solar panels installed onshore recharge the batteries. The hybrid configuration ensures quiet, emission-free operation in eco-sensitive areas while providing extended range and reliability through the petrol engine. Using SolidWorks, the hull design was modeled, and Maxsurf software estimated total and frictional resistance, as well as the effective power required for maximum performance. The study demonstrates that the hybrid configuration enhances efficiency, minimizes emissions, and provides a sustainable solution for marine transport.
