Social Media and Campaign Against Child Abuse in Nasarawa State

Abstract
The aim of this study was to assess the role of social media in the campaign against child abuse. This study was guided by the following objectives; to assess the role of social media in the campaign against child abuse, to examine the popularity of social media campaign against child abuse, to appraise the effectiveness of the social media campaign against child abuse and to find out how the Social media campaign have helped in discouraging the practice of child abuse. The theories used for this study are social control theory and routine activity theory. The study made use of survey research method. To know this, 100 copies of questionnaires was administered to critically examine the topic. Subjects were drawn from research population using the purposive sampling technique. The study answered four research questions. From the research findings, it was observed that the social media helped in discouraging the practice of Child Abuse and Labour. The study recommended that the government should embark on public enlightenment programmes to educate the public on the social dangers of child abuse and labour, as well as child trafficking.
