Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research work was attempted to investigate The Use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools in Teaching and Learning English Language in Senior Secondary Schools in Kano Municipal Local Government Area. The researchers formulated three research objectives as well as research questions to guide the current study. The population of the study comprises all the teachers teaching English language subject at Kano Municipal Local Government, Kano State. This research work is aimed at investigating the uses of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools, the impacts of using such tools on students and the challenges that teachers and students are facing when using the tools in teaching and learning English language. The work also found out the kinds of ICT tools use in teaching and learning English, the importance of using the UCT tools and the benefit of integrating the tools in teaching and learning English language in senior secondary schools. The research work further investigated the teaching methodology of the subject, the English language curriculum in Nigeria as well as the general aims of teaching the language. Finally, it was found that effective use of ICT tools in teaching and learning English language will enable students to master the language and help them communicate more effectively. It was also found that English language teachers and students of senior secondary schools are in dire need of ICT tools in their teaching and learning activities. The research work recommended that the government and education policy makers at all levels should try and provide enough ICT gadgets and services for effective teaching and learning English language by providing all the necessary equipment and facilities including instructional media, conducive classrooms, and language laboratories for teachers and students' use in secondary schools.
