Abstract

ABSTRACT
This study examined the impact of factory layout and design in overall business operation. The study found out the; essentials of factory layout inensuring effective business operation; factors influencing factory layout and design; impact of factory layout and design in overall business operation; and effects of layout style on production and operation management. The study adopted the descriptive survey deign in administering 100 questionnaires to the respondents in factories of which only 90 copies of the administered questionnaires were retrieved after filling them. The findings revealed that the factors influencting the effeciency of factory layout has significant impact on business operation. The findings also showed that there are factors influencing factory layout and design in overall business operation. The findings showed that factory layout and design have significant impact in overall business operation. The study concluded that layout style has significant effect on production and operation management. The study recommended that jobs should be enriched so that workers have opportunities for achievement and recognition, stimulation, responsibility, and advancement.
