Abstract
This study examines The Nigerian House of Poetry: Its History, Objectives, Activities, Poets, and Their Poems – An Analytical Prosodic Study. The research focuses on the historical background of the Nigerian House of Poetry, its aims and objectives, as well as the various literary and cultural activities it undertakes to promote Arabic poetry in Nigeria. It also highlights prominent poets associated with the institution and analyzes selected poems using the principles of Arabic prosody (ʿIlm al-ʿArūḍ). The study aims to explore how these poets preserve classical Arabic poetic traditions while reflecting Nigerian cultural and social realities. Through analytical and descriptive methods, the research reveals that the Nigerian House of Poetry has played a vital role in nurturing poetic talent, preserving the Arabic language, and fostering cross-cultural literary development. The findings emphasize the significance of poetry as both an artistic and educational tool in the Nigerian Arabic literary landscape.
