Abstract
Nigeria’s agrarian economy faces significant challenges in storing farm produce due to unreliable utility power supply and costly, environmentally harmful fossil fuels. This project addresses these issues by designing and fabricating an innovative solar-powered cold room integrated with a Pumped Thermal Energy Storage (PTES) system. By leveraging cold thermal storage, this system efficiently stores energy during charging phases and releases it during discharging phases, eliminating traditional solar battery limitations. The PTES-based solar-powered cold room aims to extend shelf life of perishable food items, minimizing post-harvest losses in off-grid areas.
