The Role of Social Welfare Program in Poverty Reduction (a Case Study of the National Social Investment Program (nsip) in Nigeria)

Abstract
This study critically examines the impact of the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) on poverty reduction in Nigeria, with a particular focus on its implementation and effectiveness in addressing socio-economic challenges. The research adopts a descriptive survey design, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques, including structured questionnaires and key informant interviews. A total of 120 respondents were sampled from various program beneficiaries and stakeholders across selected regions. The study explores key components of the NSIP such as N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), and the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP).
