Abstract

Special characters have become very prominent in visual story telling. These characters created to compliment real life characters in film sometimes become the only characters used in the film narrative. However , not many people understand this processes involved in creating this characters. This study explored the creative and technical processes involved in the development of special characters in film. Using the content analytical approach of the qualitative research method the study highlighted and analyzed innovative techniques such as CGI, performance capture, motion capture, and 3D scanning employed in special character creation process.
