Prevalence of Anaemia and It's Determinants Among Pregnant Women Attending Antenatal Clinic at Umuguma Specialist Hospital, Imo State

Abstract
Anaemia is a major public health problem worldwide, especially for women of childbearing age. The study assessed anaemia in pregnancy among pregnant women attending antenatal care at Umuguma Specialist Hospital, Imo State. A hospital-based cross-sectional design was used. A total of 300 pregnant women were selected through systematic random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 20. Results showed that 50% of the respondents were in their first trimester, 33.3% in the second, and 16.7% in the third trimester. The major causes of anaemia were malaria (40%), nutritional deficiencies (30%), and other factors (30%). The prevalence of anaemia was 66.7%.
