Abstract
The overlying waters of fresh water segment of the Qua Iboe and Lower Cross River Systems suffer different level of anthropogenic pressures such as small scale farming, sand extraction etc. Micronutrients analysis using digestion process revealed that all nutrients except Fe (Qua Iboe:4.070.03mg/kg; Itu: 6.090.04mg/kg) were higher in concentration in the Lower Cross River the were obtained for Qua Iboe River counterpart. And the sequence showed was: Qua Iboe: Fe>Zn>Cu>Ni?Co and Lower Cross River: Zn>Cu>Ni>Co>Fe. All values were within non-polluted range of USEPA, signifying that both overlying water were suitable for consumption micro-nutrient wise.
