Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study focused on Industrial Training Experience and the Training of Mass Communication students; A case study of Mass communication students at Alex Ekueme Federal University, Ndufu- Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State. The main objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of the industrial training program in equipping students with practical skills relevant to the mass communication industry. The theory considered most appropriate for this study is: Experimental learning theory and Social learning theory. The research used a survey design with a sample of 210 Mass communication students of AE-FUNAI who were asked to complete a questionnaire. The researcher used simple random sampling technique. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the research suggested that the industrial training program is highly effective in providing students with the practical skills needed for success in the mass communication industry. In fact, majority of the respondents rated the program as very effective, and also over half strongly agreed that it had provided them with the necessary practical skills. The study recommended that school management should establish a system for regular evaluation of the industrial training program to monitor its effectiveness and address any evolving challenges. This ongoing assessment can provide valuable insights for continuous improvement, ensuring that the program remains aligned with industry needs and consistently prepares students for successful careers in mass communication.
