This project centers on effect of political rallies on public awareness and Participation in HND
students of Mass Communication, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, it intends to unveil the
uniqueness of political rally in ensuring political awareness among students of Osun State
Polytechnic, Iree. This research employs democratic participant theory and Cognitive
Mobilization Theory to validate the rationale behind the usage of rally as campaign strategy.
This study adopts survey method using questionnaire as data collection instrument from the
population who are relatively large in number, the population of this study are HND students of
Mass Communication, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree who are 1, 600 in population while one
hundred and fifty (150) respondents were sample among the HND I and II students of Mass
Communication with the use of stratified technique. Stratified technique used to sample the
respondents, It was however discovered during the research that political rallies, especially for
mass communication students at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, are an essential aspect of
political involvement methods, persuasion is the main goal of these rallies, which successfully
raise students' political consciousness and engagement. The study hereby recommends that
