Abstract
Abstract
This study investigates the impact of climate change adaptation strategies on food crop
production efficiency among farmers in Alieru community, Kebbi State, Nigeria. Through a
survey of 100 farmers, findings revealed that 84% were aware of climate change impacts, such
as irregular rainfall and increased droughts. Key adaptation strategies included drought-resistant
crop varieties (75% adoption), improved irrigation (62%), and soil conservation practices (81%),
leading to an average crop yield increase of 25%. Socio-economic factors, including education,
financial access, and land tenure, influenced strategy adoption, with 68% of respondents citing
limited funds as a constraint. The study also recommended the need for financial and educational
support to enhance adaptation, recommending local climate information systems and policy
reforms. This research provides insights to inform climate adaptation policies, aiming to sustain
agricultural productivity in vulnerable rural areas.
