Proposed Nursery and Primary School School in Ekom Iman, Etinan Local Government Area Akwa Ibom State

A Nursery and Primary school is an educational institution that provides early childhood education to children aged 3-12 years old. Nursery and Primary education is the foundation of learning which according to National policy on education, Nursery and Primary school is Crucial for developing health, nutritional, intellectual, emotional, and social skills in children. And Universal Basic Education (UBE) Act 2000, considered early childhood education (ECE) as an integral part of basic education which, children with weak learning foundation can hardly perform exceptionally in their entire academic life circle. It s at this early stage of learning that children are developed for higher academic exercises. Thus, this research focuses on the establishment of Nursery and Primary school, which will be located at Ekom-Iman along Uyo-Etinan road, Akwa lbom state and how educational facilities can have an impact on children's academic performance and some challenges facing some of this educational institutions which is classified under public buildings are both architectural and social problems which can include inadequate funding which leads to inadequate/dilapidated facilities with limited accessibility for children with disabilities which, hinders effective learning and lacking the capacity to place a child on a good academic plane in his or her Nursery and Primary level. This can be tackled by creating a design in which promote social interaction with diverse learning styles, fostering of creativity and imagination and provides equal access for all it users. During this research, three (3) case studies of different Nursery and Primary school in Akwa lbom State has been done and analyzed. It is faced with many constraints among. which is the fore-mentioned challenge of inadequate facilities. This indicate the poor state of Nursery and Primary school facilities, which with more cost effective, adaptive, and eco-friendly designs can help improve the poor state of Nursery and Primary school facilities in Akwa lbom state and there by enhance the learning experience and comfort of the students and staffs.
