Abstract
The study was aimed to find out the level of availability and adequacy of physics teachers in senior secondary school in Dala Local Government Area Kano State. A descriptive survey design was used for this research. The population comprised 21 principals from senior secondary schools in Dala Local Government Area of Kano state and the total sample used in this research was 20 participants. The instrument used in this study for collecting data was questionnaire for principal. The data collected was analyzed by the use of frequency and simple percentage, mean and standard deviation, to answer the research questions. The finding of the study shows that, the responses indicate that physics teachers are barely sufficient to cover required classes, consistently provide additional support, and hold regular classes, but there is a perceived need for more teachers to provide individual attention, with variability in responses regarding the adequacy of current staffing. The study concluded that, It was observed that the Physics teachers' availability has a moderate impact on students' understanding of complex concepts, while qualified teachers significantly improve test scores and grades; however, a lack of teachers negatively impacts students' interest and confidence, highlighting the importance of teacher-student collaboration and sufficient feedback and support. The study recommended that, educational institutions and governments should prioritize the recruitment and training of qualified physics teachers. This can involve offering incentives, providing professional development opportunities, and collaborating with universities to ensure a steady supply of qualified teachers.
