Attitude of Undergraduate Towards School Health Service Utilization in Ekiti State University

Abstract
This study assessed and evaluated attitude of undergraduate towards school health service utilization in Ekiti State University. The study specifically identified the school health services available to undergraduate students and the factors influencing school health services utilization. The study also further highlighted the attitude of undergraduate towards school health services and the strategies that can be used to promote school health services. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised all the undergraduate in Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. The sample consisted of 160 (One hundred and sixty) undergraduate students in Ekiti State University which were selected using multistage sampling techniques. The instrument used for the study was a structured questionnaire constructed by the researcher. The Instrument was validated by researcher’s supervisor yielding reliability. The data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The descriptive statistics of frequency counts, percentages and mean were used to answer the research questions. The study revealed that the school health center is easily accessible to all the students in the University whenever they need to make use of the health center facilities. It was found that that the attitudes of the students towards the school health center is that of satisfaction as students are satisfied with the accessibility of school health center and students are confident in the confidentiality of their medical information at the health center. Based on the findings, it was discovered that the friendliness and promptness of medical staff helps the undergraduate students have a positive attitude towards the utilization of the centers It was recommended among others that the adequate and appropriate facilities should be provided to the undergraduate students as this will encourage the students usage of the school health care services.
