Abstract

This project focuses on the conceptualization, scripting, production and evaluation of a one-hour forty-minute tragic comedy English film titled Against All Odds. The film explores the complexities of human hardship while incorporating humorous elements to maintain audience engagement. Set within a contemporary socio-cultural context, the storyline follows characters who experience loss, betrayal, societal pressure, and unexpected disappointments, yet find strength to rise again. The project emphasizes script development, cinematography techniques, directing, casting, audio engineering, and post-production editing. Data for the evaluation were gathered through observation and viewer feedback sessions. Findings demonstrate that tragic comedy remains an effective narrative form for emotional balance, audience relatability, and moral lessons. The study concludes that film can be a powerful tool for social reflection and entertainment.
