Abstract
This study focuses on the Assessment of the Patronage of Online Newspaper among Female Lecturers in Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. The main objective was to assess the degree of patronage of Online News of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree female lecturers.
Reading newspaper informs readers' as well as enhance the readers' literacy skills.
Therefore, the newspaper serves as a tool for learning, especially among communication students. However, newspaper readership among students in Nigeria has been an issue of concern.
Four research questions were formulated as a guide to this study.
The study
aimed at to determine the relevance/impact of Online News to its readers. Innovation and invention theory and Democratic-Participant Theory were used to support the study.
However, to arrive at comprehensive and empirical result, the survey research method was adopted with item questionnaire tested on 150 female lecturers who were
respondents which is meant to investigate if online news are well verified and are trustworthy. The study revealed that online newspapers are still developing as more technological innovations are implemented and it helps people to access information faster. The study recommends that the hot stories should be firstly produced in the newspaper before uploading it to the internet so as to increase the sales of newspaper, all newspaper firms should stop uploading all important contents or stories to online version so as to boost the buying of the printed one's
