Influence of Remote Work on Employee Engagement and Productivity: a Study of Neolife International Limited

Abstract
This study aims to examine the impact of remote work on employee engagement and
productivity within Neolife International Limited. Specifically, it seeks to assess how remote
work affects employee engagement levels, investigate the effects of remote working
arrangements on productivity, and identify challenges faced by remote workers in
maintaining engagement and productivity.Using a survey research design, data were
collected from 120 employees at Neolife International Limited through a structured
questionnaire comprising 30 closed-ended items. Respondents rated their experiences on a
four-point Likert scale. Descriptive statistics were utilized to analyze engagement and
productivity dimensions, while Pearson correlation and linear regression analysis were also
employed.The findings reveal remote work positively influences employee engagement by
enhancing communication, participation in virtual meetings, and overall job satisfaction.
Many employees reported improved work-life balance and motivation to contribute to
organizational goals. Also, challenges such as feelings of isolation, inadequate feedback, and
difficulties in collaboration were also noted. On the productivity front, the results reveal
mixed outcomes. While many employees found remote work arrangements enabled them to
complete tasks efficiently and meet deadlines consistently, issues like unstable internet
connectivity and technical difficulties hindered productivity. The study further found that a
significant number of employees struggled with distractions at home, which sometimes
affected their focus and output. The study identified critical factors influencing engagement
and productivity, including autonomy, communication tools, and organizational culture. It
emphasizes the need for organizations to invest in reliable technology, provide clear
guidelines for remote work, and implement regular check-ins to maintain social
connections.The study concludes that remote work positively influences employee
engagement and productivity at Neolife International Limited. However, challenges such as
unstable internet connectivity, lack of dedicated workspace, and feelings of isolation hinder
sustained engagement and productivity. Addressing these challenges is crucial for optimizing
remote work effectiveness.
