Time Management and Employee Commitment in University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (uith), Ilorin

Abstract

This research investigated the impact of time and its management on the level of commitment of workers in the Nigerian medical sector. With purview insight from the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, the study utilized a descriptive survey research design. A primary source of data collection was utilized through distributing well-structured questionnaires to the one hundred and seventy-one (171) sampled staff of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), Ilorin. Descriptive and inferential statistics were employed to analyze the collected data. The result of analysis showed that Time planning (r = 0.237; P-value < 0.05), Task prioritization (r = 0.734; P-value < 0.05) and time tracking (r = 0.724; P-value < 0.05) all have significant positive relationship with employee commitment among workers in the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. The study concluded that effective time management strategy is no longer a choice, but rather a crucial necessity for workers particularly the healthcare workers and thus recommended prompt time planning and tracking with as necessities for the employees in order to enhance their performance as well as motivate employee commitment in the organization.
